Position: Managing Director

Primary purpose of the position:

The Managing Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the organisation, overseeing all aspects of operations, and ensuring the achievement of financial and operational goals. This role requires a dynamic and visionary leader with a proven track record in executive management, team leadership, and business development.



Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

  • Develop and implement the organisation's strategic plan in alignment with the Board's vision and goals.
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and potential risks to drive sustainable growth.
  • Monitor and report on progress towards strategic objectives.

 

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the finance team and Board.
  • Ensure the organisation operates within budgetary guidelines and maintains financial stability.
  • Implement effective financial controls and reporting systems.

 

Operational Leadership

  • Provide strong operational guidance, ensuring all departments work together to meet organizational goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including but not limited to production, logistics, HR, and administration.
  • Implement best practices in operational efficiency and process improvement.

 

Team Management and Development

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing leadership team.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.
  • Set performance standards and conduct regular performance evaluations.

 

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, partners, investors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Represent the organisation at industry conferences, events, and with the media.

 

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure the organisation operates in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks that could impact the organisation's reputation or financial stability.

 

Business Development and Growth

  • Identify new business opportunities and markets for expansion.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase revenue and market share.


Innovation and Technology

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends relevant to the organisation's industry.
  • Drive innovation within the organisation to maintain competitiveness.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Management, or a related field
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a Managing Director or similar position.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful strategic plans.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in team leadership, development, and performance management.
