Position: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Primary purpose of the position:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The COO is responsible for driving operational excellence, efficiency, and scalability across all areas of the organisation. They play a critical role in ensuring the company achieves its strategic goals and objectives.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Operations Management

  • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to drive productivity and performance.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, including production, supply chain, logistics, and quality control.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement.

 

Team Leadership and Development

  • Provide strong leadership and direction to the operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop high-performing operational talent.

 

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with the executive team to develop and execute the company's overall strategic plan.
  • Align operational initiatives with the organisation's mission, vision, and long-term objectives.

 

Financial Management

  • Work closely with the CFO to develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effective operations while maintaining quality and service levels.
  • Monitor and control expenses to meet budgets

 

Process Improvement and Optimisation

  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and efficiencies, implementing best practices to streamline operations.
  • Implement performance metrics and reporting systems to track progress and drive improvements.

 

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards, and legal requirements.
  • Develop and maintain effective risk management strategies to mitigate operational and financial risks.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other executives and departments (e.g., Sales, Marketing, HR) to align operations with overall business objectives.
  • Foster effective communication and teamwork across the organisation.

 

Technology and Innovation

  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and competitiveness.
  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

 

Customer Focus

  • Champion a customer-centric approach to operations, ensuring products and services meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Gather and analyse customer feedback to drive improvements.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, operations management, engineering, etc.)
  • Proven track record of successful operations leadership in a similar industry or organisation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and implement process improvements.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements.
